In addition to the Local Flavor Productions work, it's been a busy couple of months shooting for Creative Loafing among other things...

I had the great pleasure of shooting Mitzi Gordon and her Bluebird Books Bus not long ago.

CL ran a piece featuring one of the pix HERE.

I had another fun shoot with some jazz royalty at the recently re-opened Manhattan Casino in St Petersburg, FL.

I got my fifth cover for CL featuring a shot from the ongoing coverage of the infamous Occupy assemblies...

now happening around the world...

I got to stand on the tarmac underneath a 747,

Shoot (and eat!) lots of tasty food,

Hang out with a giant octopus made out of legos,

And I finished out the month by traveling back to Austin, TX this past weekend to shoot the gorgeous Zivkovich/Baar wedding.

Last but sooo not least, I got to shoot and meet (again) my most favoritist band in the whole world, Little Dragon.

It's been a pretty grand month.

I'll be spending the next couple weeks editing, lining up more gigs, and hopefully playing some music as well.

Things just keep getting better. Dig it.

Are you in need of some cool, colorful Sasha Rae style photos?

My rates are very reasonable, I love to travel, and I can work within your budget.

L.A.

In L.A. now for about 2 weeks and loving it!

I've done so much and met so many fantastic people already!

There was the downtown rooftop barbeque with Derby at Jake & Chalsea's...

"Unnatural Disaster" Japan nuclear relief art show at an awesome warehouse near downtown:

A most amazing gathering in Venice affectionately coined the Cock Raiser to fund an art car at Burning Man featuring a giant neon rooster.

There were fire dancers...

A Burlesque Dancer...

...and more beautiful people than you can shake a stick at...

If this is a standard couple of weeks living in L.A., I think I'm finally home!
(Minus the $58 downtown parking ticket laying on the table right now. Eek.)

Anyway, I've been taking lots of event pix as always and been busy getting my portfolio straightened out a bit as well.

In celebration of my new move, I'm offering some special head shot rates to get things up and running here in L.A.

If you or anyone you know needs some great head shots at an amazingly awesome rate, feel free to give me a call anytime!

Next week i'll be in Nashville with Water = Hope on the Brad Paisley tour taking more pix.  Check back to my flickr to see them and more.

Until next time...
It's always an adventure and I try to always be grateful.

SXSW 2011

Another SXSW has come and gone and the dust is starting to settle.  I had the privilege once again of shooting it for Creative Loafing, the weekly that I previously shot for in Tampa (very much like The Chronicle here in Austin).  It can be a bit of a war zone shooting out there with so many bands and people and parking and biking and phew!  It can be challenging to keep up at times so I'm still working on the day by day play.  Until then, feel free to check out my SXSW 2011 pix here:

It's always amazing to see all the thousands of bands and musicians and fans take over our town for the week.  If you've never been, I highly recommend it.

Check back here for updates as the week progresses...

Sooner!

L.A. & The Association

Had a splendid time in L.A. as always.  Got to see friends, dance, take pix, and of course, visit the beach.  My good friend Jenn just moved to Los Feliz (Great part of town incidentally), so we took some time out to go up to the top of Griffith Observatory just up the street.  It was chilly but the view was well worth it.

We also visited the LACMA (L.A. County Museum of Art).  Among other things they were featuring an exhibit honoring the Buddha.  It was incredible and I will post pix soon...

In the meantime, we had some fun outside...

As soon as I arrived back in Austin, I went straight to work shooting stills on a feature film called, "The Association."  It was such a blast and what a great cast and crew!  I hope to work with them again soon.  Here's a few highlights...

Next on the agenda is SXSW which I'll be shooting for Creative Loafing next week.  It's going to be crazy keeping up but I can't wait!  Stay tuned for lots more pix as always...

Cheers,

Shanna

The Red Queen

Illustrator / Graphic Designer, Robin Eagleton and I recently collaborated on a shoot we've been referring to as the 'Red Queen.'  I'm currently showing a piece from it at Red Table Coffee on South Congress in Austin.

We had a lot of fun making these both with make-up and costumes.  I was really impressed at Rob's ability to translate his drawing skills to make-up on a real person.  I'm not sure if we even knew exactly what we were going for when we started but it all came together well.
In addition, it was of course, challenging and fun for me to work from both sides of the lens.

We also put together some new head shots so as to test out my new studio lighting set-up.  The results made me pretty excited to try it out with some new clients too.

Want to get on the list?  I'm offering great rates right now as I re-establish my clientele here in Austin.  We also offer full comp card design and a list of legitimate, reputable local agencies to send yours off to.  Feel free to call or write for a quote!

As Rob's Dad said, "You made him look better in the picture than he looks in real life."

Awww....

Cheers,
Sasha Rae
