Here's a few examples from a recent shoot I did for a restaurant in Silver Lake, CA:
Now, compare those with a few images customers took with their cell phones:
And it's easy to see why Presentation is key.
It's true that there's been an explosion of low quality cell phone pics of food on-line and did you know that 69 Percent Of Mobile Users Order Food Via Their Devices? This means that when a potential customer sees high quality professional photography instead of hasty cell phone pix, it captures their attention. It can hold them a minute longer and it's far more likely that they'll make the decision to choose your restaurant over the others. This is why the quality of photography you choose to highlight on your website is so important if you want to differentiate your business from the masses. If you want the perception of your establishment and dishes to shine and stand out from the rest, then you need better photos because guess what? It's been proven that people eat with their eyes first.
So whether it's with me or someone else, be sure to take the time and budget to hire an experienced professional photographer. The photos will last for years and the increase in sales you'll see will be well worth the investment!
